ACTION RESEARCH
MEANING OF RESEARCH:
Research is a systematic attempt to obtain answer.It involves objective, impartial,empirical and logical analysis and recording of controlled observation that may lead to development of principles,theories and generalizing actions.
MEANING OF ACTION RESEARCH:
Action Research is a kind of classroom
research taken up by the class teacher or subject teachers with a view to find out what action can be taken to solve a certain problem in the shortest possible time.
DEFINITION OF ACTION RESEARCH:
"Action Research is a process in which participants examine their own educational practice systematically and carefully using the techniques of research."
1. COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH:
Collaborative Research involves a group of people researching a specified topic.In this research, more than one person is involved in implementation of new programme.
2.SCHOOL - WIDE RESEARCH:
Action Research programs are generally created from a problem found within an entire school.When a program is researched for an entire school,it is called school-wide research.
3.DISTINCTIVE RESEARCH:
This type of research is far more complex and utilizes more resources but the rewards can be great.Issues can be organizational,community based or processes for decision making.

CHARACTERISTICS OF ACTION RESEARCH:

- It can be carried out by an individual teacher or in collaboration with other teacher.
- It is a scientific procedure for finding out a practical solution of current problem.
- It develops needed structures to allow for follow up or institutionalization of new practices so that the work may have a lasting and positive impact.
- It is a personal research or clinical research work.
- The focus is to improve and modify the current practices.
- The individual and group problems are studied by Action Research.
- Develops new ways of interpreting the theory.
MERITS OF ACTION RESEARCH:
- It promotes active learning and student involvement in the learning process.
- It can solve the problem of indiscipline.
- It emphasizes key skills for every student and allows them to obtain skills in order to build higher skills.
- It develops scientific attitude in the teachers.
- It enables the schools to organize proper programmes for the development of the pupils.
- Curriculum can be developed with the help of action research.
- It can raise the achievement level of the pupils.
- It can solve the problems of delinquency and backwardness.
DEMERITS OF ACTION RESEARCH:
- Lack of generalizability.
- The cyclic nature of Action Research to achieve its twin outcomes of action and research is time consuming and complex to conduct.
- Findings of Action Research are typically only relevant to the specific classroom being investigated,its students and its own unique characteristics.
- It may yield different results in other classrooms,contexts or languages.
WHEN DO WE USE ACTION RESEARCH?
- To solve educational problems.
- When teacher want to improve their practices,they use action research.
- To address school wide problems.
- To help educators reflect in their own practices.
ACTION RESEARCH PLAN:
1.AREA OF PROBLEM:
Students get low grades in accounts.
2.DEFINITION OF PROBLEM:
Students of Sadhu Vaswani International School of 11th A get low grades in accounts.
3.SAMPLING:
12 students from 11th A
4.PROBABLE CAUSES OF THE PROBLEM:
- When students are not challenged enough by the material it can lead to low grades.
- Many students get low grades because they simply didn't take the time to prepare properly.
- Some students didn't pay atttention in class.
- For many students,the problem of poor grades is due to ineffective study habits.
- Poor organization can lead to increased frustration,higher stress and it results into low grades.
- If the students have poor attitude towards studying ,it can result in getting poor grades.
- Personal issues can also affect grades.
- Some students have a difficult study environment at home which can result in low grades.
- The main reason for poor grades is the lack of motivation to do well in school.
- Classrooms are full of distractions which make it hard for students to focus on learning and ultimately it would result in low grades.
- When the subject matter is too difficult to understand ,the students cannot achieve good grades
5.SOLUTIONS OF THE PROBLEM:
- Students who experience low grades should implement a daily study plan.
- The students must adopt a positive attitude in the class.
- Improve memory skills.
- Students must pay more attention in class and ask questions.
- Hire a private tutor.
- They should find the right learning style that suits them the best.
- Students need to allow plenty of time for revision.
- They need to work in areas in which they are underperforming.
- Ask for advice from the teacher.
HYPOTHESIS :

HYPOTHESIS:
If the teacher inculcates positive environment in school for learning then the grades can be improved.
5th Cause:
Problem of poor grades is due to ineffective study habits.
HYPOTHESIS:
If the teacher teaches in an effective manner in the classroom,the grades can be improved.
6th Cause:
Students have poor attitude towards studying.
HYPOTHESIS:
If the teacher adopts positive attitude in the students to study and motivates them they can score good grades.
7h Cause:
Subject matter is too difficult to understand.
HYPOTHESIS:
If the teacher teaches the subject matter in an efficient way and the students understand it easily then their grades can be improved.
8th Cause:
Lack of motivation to do well in school.
HYPOTHESIS:
If the teacher motivates the students to do well, their grades can be ultimately improved.
